Here is a list of news sources in the Santa Barbara area and a brief description of each.  If you’d like your paper added to or removed from the list, just let us know.

NoozHawk

Santa Barbara and Goleta’s unique new community newspaper — without the paper. Our experienced, professional journalists are delivering essential local news and community information for Santa Barbara, Goleta, Montecito, Carpinteria, Summerland and the rest of Santa Barbara County’s South Coast. We’re writing about the community you recognize, and it’s at your fingertips 24/7, in a simple and organized all-electronic format.

TheSBON

At The SBON, we believe in one thing: NOBS.  That’s right.  We are tired of big business running our media.  Here, you will find unbiased reviews and news on what is current in the Santa Barbara area on areas such as health and fitness, business, entertainment, and lifestyles, and more.

We are online and have no central location.  Our employees work from home, are eco-friendly, and are passionate about spreading the great messages you see here.  We are your open-minded source for media in the Santa Barbara area.

Santa Barbara NewsPress

Daily newspaper serving Santa Barbara County since 1855. Includes local and world news, sports, business, and classifieds.

Goleta Valley Voice

Goleta Valley Voice is a weekly newspaper published in Goleta California, Santa Barbara.  This paper has the same owner as the Santa Barbara NewsPress.

Montecito Journal

In the summer of 1995, a new and unusual community newspaper made its first appearance. That first issue of “Gold Coast Journal, Montecito’s hometown newspaper” featured 16 pages and no advertising, but was chockfull of local news, something that Montecito had been without for over a year. The second issue, we became “Montecito Journal”, and have enjoyed 11 years (and counting) of publishing success. Beginning with 5,000 copies once a month, the Journal has grown to 12,000 every week: remarkable in a community with only 10,000 residents.

EdHat.com

Online paper by Peter Skylar.  Great for local race results, quirky contests, and creative content.  Not our favorite for design & layout, but great for content.  This paper also links to other local news sources for a variety of opinions on the same subject.

Daily Nexus

Online & print edition which mainly goes to UCSB students.  Speaking with many students, the paper is actually read by most daily.  Most writers are students and the articles are lacking professionalism, but there aren’t high standards for a college paper.

KEYT News

The most viewed local television channel in association with ABC.  Santa Barbara news, sports, community events, and on-air personalities.

Independent

The alternative printed paper to the News Press.  They cover typical topics such as sports, news, accidents, obituaries, classifieds, etc.  Has more of an “alternative” twist to it than most papers.
