TheSBON: Could you tell our readers a little about yourself?
Eva: I’m a very independent, self-motivated, intelligent, articulate, spiritual, loyal and fun loving individual.
TheSBON: Where are you from, what are your interests? New Haven native and fitness enthusiast.
Eva: I’m a very spiritual individual but claim no affiliation as the institutionalization of religion has turned me off over the years. My interests range from fitness, nutrition, cooking, hiking, reading to pistol shooting at the range and martial arts. Spending quality time with my little nephew is my favorite thing to do! Enjoy consistently challenging myself on both a physical and intellectual basis.
TheSBON: What kind of modeling and fitness-related work do you do?
Eva: Fitness competitor, freelance model and NASM certified personal trainer.
TheSBON: Can you go over a typical workout?
Eva: My workouts are mostly dedicated to weight training, switching them up every 4 – 6 weeks. I have a split routine, which means training one or more muscle group(s) a day hitting every angle of the muscle. Cardio isn’t my favorite activity however, keep my heart rate up while weight training by super-setting and drop-setting. Also make sure to get 1 –2 sessions a week of cardio in!
TheSBON: Do you take the weekends off, or do you workout then, too?
Eva: Depends on my schedule and how my week goes. Usually take 2 days off a week to let my body rest and heal.
TheSBON: Do you have a regular exercise schedule that you maintain?
Eva: No, do train hard however; most importantly listen to my body.
TheSBON: What is your favorite muscle group to train?
Eva: The glutes for sure!
TheSBON: Do you ever do Yoga, Pilates, or anything relaxing?
Eva: Haven’t tried either yet but enjoy meditating. I’ve always wanted to try Yoga and Pilates.
TheSBON: Do you come from an athletic family?
Eva: No although grew up taking martial arts, aerobics, ballet and gymnastics. Trained in Tae Kwon Do, Kick Boxing, Boxing and most recently Krav Maga. It’s a great total body workout, stress relief and you learn amazing self-defense techniques.
TheSBON: As far as your nutrition, would you mind sharing a day’s meal plan?
Eva: Even off-season I keep my diet pretty clean. Eating 4 – 5 small meals a day including a protein, a complex carbohydrate and definitely drinking a lot of water. I’ve been teased over the years that my water bottle is my security blanket because you never see me without it!!!! As far as cheating, LOVE Modern Apizza in New Haven, CT. New Haven has some of the best pizza in the country!
TheSBON: Do you use any multivitamins?
Eva: Yes, a Multivitamin for women, Vitamin C, Fish, Flax and Borage Oil daily.
TheSBON: What are your accomplishments in the fitness world this year?
Eva: 2009 INBF Bikini, Best Body Champion, Northeast Classic Nancy Andrews Show. 1ST Place, NPC Bikini Competition 2009, Connecticut State Championship.
TheSBON: What are you working toward outside of health and fitness?
Eva: Completing my college education. Modeling, fitness and nutrition are my passion; have gotten to travel and do some wonderful things in my life. However, realize that education is just as important and love a good challenge! Have had several assignments out in California over the years. I have found the Californian people to be very warm, hospitable and look forward to my next visit!
